We are thrilled to announce the incredible success of our “Repair, Learn, and Certify” workshop held in Richmond last week.
On Thursday 11th December we welcomed a fantastic and focused group of 8 attendees who spent the day proving that fixing things is not just practical—it’s a powerful step toward fighting e-waste and building a stronger community.

Hands-On Action in Richmond
The energy in the room was electric as participants immersed themselves in the skills of the circular economy. This was more than a workshop; it was a direct pathway to real qualification and sustainable employment.

Guided by expert fixers from the restart project, trainees learned to safely diagnose faults, troubleshoot common electrical problems, and successfully repair small electrical and electronic items destined for the bin. Every repair made contributed to two goals: providing the trainee with valuable skills and diverting materials from landfill.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Fixers

The combined results from our previous workshops in Greenford and Hillingdon, alongside the recent success in Richmond, confirm the overall impact of this programme so far:
-
71% of participants from events rated their overall experience as Excellent.
-
A massive 73% of attendees stated they would like to continue pursuing a career in electrical fixing.
These figures show that the “Repair, Learn, and Certify” programme is not just teaching skills, it’s inspiring a new generation of fixers and proving that sustainable careers are highly sought after in our community.
Thank you to all 8 attendees for making the Richmond workshop a huge success!
