Dr John Blackmore is leaving as CEO of AWL on 24th October to pursue new interests and Operations Director Gary Buckley assumes the role of CEO on the 25th October to lead the further growth of AWL
07 SEPTEMBER 2022, LONDON — Dr John Blackmore, Chief Executive of Action West London (AWL), will be leaving the charity on the 24th October 2022.
John has led AWL for the past 18 years, having developed AWL into a respected, multi-award-winning charity and social enterprise serving West London.
Long-time AWL Operations and Business Development Director Gary Buckley will take over as CEO on 25th October with a brief to develop the services and further growth of AWL.
Gary will maintain and develop the services of AWL supporting the less advantaged people of West London.
Of his time leading AWL, John said: ” I have really enjoyed working with our dedicated staff, trustees, volunteers, community organisations, local authorities and funders, all of whom have contributed to AWL’s work. The charity has experienced significant change through this time whilst successfully continuing to serve disadvantaged people in West London. I would like to thank all who have enabled AWL to achieve its mission of ‘changing lives through Employment, Education and Enterprise’.
Whilst leaving as CEO of AWL, I remain committed to AWL’s Mission. AWL’s support is needed now more than ever and I look forward to the charity continuing its vital work in the future.
AWL supports those people with the most barriers to employment – lone parents, ex-offenders, refugees, older people, NEET young people, young adults with learning, emotional or mental health difficulties with over 75% from BAME communities.”
