Client Journey – Mohammed
*Mohammed has had quite a difficult past and has been through a lot. In his younger days he was involved with the wrong crowd and had a number of run ins with the law. He thankfully was never really convicted on any offences but still was singled out in his community and due to this always struggled with finding a job and building his confidence due to the stigma labelled upon him. He was referred to AWL through his local support worker and after I had a brief discussion with him about his situation and what he ideally wanted to go into in the future we pencilled in future actions for what we would look to do together to get him back into work.
In the midst of all this, he showed me a job vacancy he was interested in and wanted to apply for this role. So I went with his flow and started the process by first sorting out his CV to the standard required to apply for any job but specifically the role he showed me.
Once we got his CV ready, we worked together on the job application and discussing the role with his along the way, so he knew what type of role it was as well as what to expect if he was to get this job role. Once we completed the application and he was given a job interview date, we then worked on prepping him for the interview and built his confidence to be able to answer the questions accurately and confidently. He went for his interview and successfully passed and was given a job offer which made him extremely happy. He was over the moon and really could not wait to begin work which he did within a week and only after a matter of days when speaking to him, he seemed really happy and excited about what the future holds for him. He was mostly looking forward to finding a slightly better place to live and to make more friends at work and in general. In the month since, he has already made many friends and has already begun to save money. He has also joined a gym to also get back into fitness and get his mental strength back to how it used to be for him.
He really wants to work his way up and become a manager soon and has already discussed this with his current line manager who has assured him that they will get some training in place for him to learn the strings required to become a manager in the future. He understands what it will take and what he must go through to become a manager.
Overall *Mohammed was extremely happy with the service he was provided and also the help to find a job. He believes he is now in a better position than he was a few months back and fingers crossed he won’t have any issues going forward.
