CABWI Trustee Maggie Pedder Visits Action West London’s Level 2 Electrical Fixing Course
At Action West London (AWL), our core mission is transforming lives through employment, training, and community development. Last week, we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming Maggie Pedder, Trustee of CABWI, to see the direct impact of our collaborative work in action!

Bridging the Gap to Practical Careers
Finding high-demand, stable industries with direct routes into work is one of the biggest challenges young people face today. Many 16–30-year-olds have the drive to work, but lack access to affordable training or the industry credentials needed to land their first job.
That is where CABWI comes in.
The Certification and Assessment Board for the Water Industry (CABWI) is a leading UK awarding body certifying vocational qualifications across the utilities and construction sectors. Beyond their work in qualification standards, CABWI operates as a registered charity dedicated to reinvesting in community projects. Their grant funding helps young people acquire practical skills, overcome employment barriers, and launch rewarding long-term careers.
Hands-On Learning in Action
During her visit, Maggie joined us in the workshop during our Level 2 Electrical Fixing course. She observed our trainees learning essential trade skills firsthand and saw how CABWI’s funding makes a tangible difference by enabling us to offer completely free, practical training to local young adults across West London.
“Showing Maggie the direct impact of CABWI’s support on our trainees as they build real-world skills, safety knowledge, and practical confidence for their future was an absolute privilege.” Says Craig Winters, Contracts and Partnerships Manager, Action West London
