From Taster Session to Trade Skills: Celebrating Our Very First Level 2 Repair Graduates in Acton
Eight West Londoners just took a massive step toward working for themselves and building real green careers.
We’ve just wrapped up our very first Level 2 Small Electrical Appliance, Safety and Repair Course at our Acton office. Seeing all eight candidates finish the course with their qualifications signed off was a proud moment for everyone at Action West London (AWL).
What made this group extra special was watching how far they’ve come. Several of these candidates first came to us for a basic taster workshop just to see if they liked hands-on fixing. They got stuck in, passed their Level 1, and have now successfully completed Level 2. That’s pure dedication, and it shows what’s possible when local people are given accessible, practical training.
Real Skills for the Circular Economy
This training isn’t about sitting in a classroom reading textbooks. It’s about giving people practical skills that keep household goods out of landfill and put money in their pockets.
With their Level 2 qualifications secured, our graduates are stepping directly onto two practical pathways:

Gaining Work Experience: Working at our upcoming community fixing events alongside senior repair technicians, troubleshooting real appliances brought in by local residents.

Heading into Self-Employment: Using their new technical knowledge, safety credentials, and PAT testing skills to start taking on their own repair jobs and launching their own local services.
Fixing broken gear instead of binning it is central to the circular economy. Our graduates are now right at the heart of that movement in West London.

Following the brilliant feedback and high demand for our recent women’s session in Acton, we expect these places to go very quickly. Please book early to avoid missing out.

Friday 25th: Open-to-all workshop
This session is open to any local resident looking to learn the basics of electronics repair and start working towards accreditation.
Both sessions will cover small electrical diagnostics and repair basics. Venues will be confirmed as soon as you book.
