Action West London (AWL) is dedicated to empowering individuals and communities in West London. Our latest social impact report, covering April to December 2024, showcases our commitment to positive change through concrete data. We’re proud to share the progress we’ve made in supporting people on their journeys towards employment, skills development, and brighter futures.

Engaging Our Community:

During this period, we launched an impressive 312 projects starts, engaging new clients and launching targeted and demonstrating our proactive approach to addressing community needs. These projects encompass a wide range of initiatives, from employment support and training to community engagement and well-being programmes. While some projects, such as our ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) and Refugee Support programmes, focus on crucial foundational skills and integration rather than immediate employment outcomes, they are vital components of our holistic support system.

Driving Employment Outcomes:

We believe that employment is a key driver of individual and community prosperity. Our dedicated employment support services have helped 99 people secure jobs between April and December 2024. This translates to real lives being changed and families being empowered. Looking at the last quarter of the year, we celebrated 53 employment outcomes, highlighting the continued effectiveness of our programmes.

Skills Development for a Brighter Future:

Equipping individuals with the skills they need to succeed is central to our mission. We’ve supported 33 individuals in completing short courses, providing them with valuable knowledge and qualifications to enhance their employability. Additionally, we’ve delivered vocational training in areas such as Customer Service and SIA (Security Industry Authority) courses, although these aren’t reflected in the short course completion numbers. This broader focus on skills development ensures our clients are well-prepared for the job market.

Who We Serve:

Our impact extends across diverse communities in West London. Our beneficiaries are predominantly male (73%) and aged 21-35 (72.6%), although we also serve significant numbers of individuals aged 36-49 (10.5%) and 50+ (15.3%). We strive to reach all members of our community, including those often underrepresented. While our beneficiary group skews male and younger, we remain committed to serving all demographics.

We are proud to serve a diverse range of ethnic backgrounds, with significant representation from the Black African and British communities. Our data highlights our reach within these communities and our commitment to inclusivity.

Where We Work:

Our work is concentrated across several London boroughs, with a strong presence in Ealing (45.4%), Hillingdon (24.2%), Hounslow (14.4%), and Brent (10.8%). We also serve individuals in Hammersmith & Fulham (5.2%). This borough breakdown reflects our commitment to serving the diverse needs of West London communities.

Looking Ahead:

These statistics represent a snapshot of our work and the positive impact we strive to create. We are committed to continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making to ensure our services are as effective as possible. We are grateful for the support of our funders, partners, and the community, which enables us to continue making a difference in West London. We look forward to sharing our future progress and continuing to empower individuals and communities in the months and years to come.
