What a year it has been for Action West London (AWL)!
2024 was a year of so many significant achievements for AWL and we’re proud to share with you the impact we’ve made in our communities with a few examples of our work over the last twelve months, all successfully completed thanks to the dedication of our team and the support of our partners.
Key Highlights:
- Social Impact: AWL continued to provide essential services and support to vulnerable individuals in West London and across our Capital, delivering projects for marginalised members of our community such as ethnic minorities, refugees, ex-offenders, and NEETS. We partnered with Ministry of Justice ,SEGRO, McLaren, the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, DWP and supported the London Living Wage scheme.
- Community Partnerships and Environmental Sustainability : We strengthened our partnerships with third sector and faith-based organisations to promote a more inclusive and vibrant community; one of the many examples was the hosting of our highly successful Acton Community Markets now monthly Reduce and Recycle Sustainability hub which in December was held within the nearby St Mary’s Church, attracting congregants and members of the wider community who saw demonstrations of how with a few behavioural adjustments, we can live sustainably and contribute to the improvement in the environment in which we live. We’ve also worked on various initiatives to support residents for example, partnering with construction company McLaren to improve the condition of local green spaces and from our Market, we are currently running a winter coat collection for Acton’s homeless charities.
- Awards: 2024 has been a year of Awards and Recognition for AWL! In February, Our Reduce and Recycle Hub took home the Environmental Sustainability Award at the West London Business Awards. In September, we won the BBC London Make Difference Green Award along with a Commendation from The Mayor of London and in November, we won the Environmental Sustainability Award at this year’s London Dangoor Awards together with a “Recognised Project” citation!
We are so grateful to our dedicated staff, trustees, volunteers, partners and supporters who have made these achievements possible.
As we move towards 2025, we remain committed to making a positive difference to the lives of residents in West London and across our dynamic Capital City.
What’s Next for AWL?
In 2025, with the help of our partners, we will be expanding our projects and our reach so that we can deliver to more marginalised individuals and communities and continue to contribute to a better sustainable environment.
Stay tuned for exciting new initiatives and partnerships that will further empower our communities.
Words from our Chair and CEO
Tony Coyne, AWL’s Chair remarked: “ The facts speak for themselves. The many awards that AWL has won this year are truly humbling and are a testament to the hard work and dedication of Gary and his staff, trustees, partners, volunteers and supporters working together to improve the life chances and the environment of our fellow Londoners. 2025 holds out further prospects to support in imaginative ways our least served communities.”
Gary Buckley AWL’s CEO commented: “Echoing Tony’s comments, 2024 has been a pivotal year for AWL in terms of re-alignment of our goals and objectives to the needs of the marginalised communities that we serve. We have much work to do in 2025 but we should allow ourselves a moment to enjoy the many tributes that we have received this year and to thank all those who have contributed to this success.”
