From Apprentice at Action West London to Manager and Trainer!
To celebrate this year’s National Apprenticeship week, we would like to showcase what happened to Action West London’s first apprentice, she featured in 2013’s National Apprenticeship week campaign. Her journey began when she approached our office searching for a volunteer role. As a volunteer she made an incredible impression, enabling her to secure an apprenticeship within our Business Administration team… a first for AWL.
Her talent of engaging with and supporting unemployed young people was incredible, so AWL put her forward for a Level 3 Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) qualification. After her apprenticeship, she secured a full-time role as a Youth Employment worker.
We were extremely sad to see her go, but very pleased that she had built up her confidence to secure an advisory role at a local college. Since then, she progressed to both public and private sector companies as an Employment Advisor. Over the past seven years she has worked her way up to become a Manager and Trainer.
AWL’s first apprentice has been a great role model to other young people and adults in our community. This is just one example of many inspiring apprentices that have resulted in a positive and rewarding career.
