Taylor Paul

After finishing school in 2018 without the grades he hoped for, Taylor set his eyes on securing a mechanics Apprenticeship. Frustratingly he was continuously unsuccessful, often receiving no acknowledgement or response to his applications.

The Story

What attracted Taylor to Action West London?

When Taylor encountered AWL online, he was drawn to the suitable education, training, and employment (ETE) support we provide to youngsters. Without hesitation Taylor contacted us and we suggested he thought about Traineeships, as he would gain more experience in the industry whilst also studying Maths and English with a tutor on a 1-1 basis.

How did his Traineeship work?

Through AWL’s expansive network, we found a local garage, “Little Knocks”, who had an excellent track-record of training young people and were keen to take Taylor on. After securing the Traineeship Taylor settled and adapted very well, despite the challenges posed by the ever-changing COVID-19 guidelines.

Where is Taylor now?

Taylor is on his way to completing the Traineeship and is proud to have secured an Apprenticeship in his next step to becoming a qualified mechanic.

Garage owner Daniel has said ‘’From Day one Taylor was fantastic, turning up to the garage early and showing a real willingness to learn and develop new skills. The future for Taylor is now very bright thanks to his determination and hard work.”

How does AWL continue to support Taylor?

With the encouragement of his advisor, Jon at AWL, Taylor was able to overcome serious anxiety problems encouraging him to feel more confident in himself, and his future career as a mechanic.
