Action West London has been making an impact on our local community for the last 20 years and we are proud to currently offer over 10 different projects ranging from education services to employment opportunities for youths with learning difficulties and disabilities.
In essence AWL provides opportunities for young people and adults to improve their lives and supports them to make the best of these opportunities.
Lionel aged 18, unemployed for several years with educational barriers:
It’s good; you give people opportunity to move onto better things. I’m happy I signed up to the program; I never thought I could be this person I am today. You’ve given me confidence and helped me mentally, giving me a more positive attitude on life. I now have experience and confidence knowing that I can “have a career” and a better future ahead of me.
I was previously living in a hostel and had a lot of family issues. I was not in a good place and when I first came to AWL. I felt I had no direction. Since being here I have managed to secure a paid contract from Marks & Spencer. I am now happy since I’ve made a huge change and turned things around. Big thanks to AWL for helping me turn my life around.
Unemployed for 15 years and facing numerous difficulties, lacked the confidence and skills required for today’s job market. AWL‘s support helped her get employment as a care co-ordinator.
AWL runs over 12 projects a year—including even a Street Market –helping over 1000 disadvantaged people.
We’re very proud of the positive changes our work has had on people and communities. We want to help even more people.
At Action West London we are celebrating 21 years of helping the most disadvantaged in our communities into education, employment and enterprise. Here we share some of our success stories.
